Places you may visit at Subic
1. Ocean adventure – I am dying to visit ocean adventure cause I wanna see dolphins live in the flesh  . It is listed as a dolphinarium but you will see other sea creatures as well.. I read from one article that you even have an option to stay overnight inside the oceanarium and sleep with the fishes.
2. Zoobic safari – as the name suggest it was designed to imitate safari in Africa. Visitors may feed the tigers while inside a van. Quite exciting!

4. Casino – have fun and gamble at Casino Filipino !

TAAL VOLCANO is acting up

Jun 10, 2010 ilovelife | Uncategorized

Tagaytay became a tourist attraction because of TAAL . And what made it really popular is its location, this volcano situated in the middle of a bluish lake! AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL! It has been very quiet for decades since the last eruption on Oct. 3, 1977. And a lot of people would probably love to watch it do its thing! :) Currently, Taal is on Alert Level 2, meaning magma is continuously rising. GEE, I was just there a week ago and we didn’t notice anything unusual with the volcano. According to the PHILVOLCS, Taal has been on alert level 1 since Nov. 23, 2005 the changes in the activities of Taal Volcano are usually sudden. INTERESTING!

BORACAY

SUMMER FOR LESS

12,000 php

we paid 12,000 for our  3 days and 2 nights  vacation at boracay last summer..the rate was  NOT per head but FOR TWO..aint that amazing? It was our first time and we  got no idea on where to go.SO we decided to just get a packaged trip. I browsed online for weeks and luckily I found a local travel agency who helped us arranged the trip. WOW Philippines travel agency has its own website plus a chat support (sweet! ) so you can always get a hold of  them  <except sundays I think>. They are offering cheap travel packages for major tourist spots in the Philippines not just Boracay. JUST A SIMPLE TIP: You gotta be very specific with your inquiries and haggle a bit :)  Usually they  position pricey packages  first. Like , the first one that they gave me was worth 39 K… I was like “holy shit! Where the heck is bora!Philippines right?!” So I have to email them again and tell them that WHAT I WANTED WAS THE CHEAPEST PACKAGE FOR BORA. That time they gave us several options to choose from, Mostly hotels located at STATIONs 2 and 3…of course the cheapest ones are situated at 3.. But believe me when we got there, we found out that the stations are just stone throw away from one another! So it doesnt even matter where you stay. Most of the crowd and bars are on station 2, so nightlife is pretty fun at station 2. Station 3 is still growing; I bet it’ll be as crowded as station 2 in the coming years. At  station one, since most hotels there are quite pricey you’ll rarely see people especially at night ..which is kinda boring for me. I think Stations 2 and 3 are the BEST!.. NO DULL MOMENTS!

The Travel Agency who assisted Us : WOW PHILIPPINES TRAVEL AGENCY

They gave us a 16 K worth of package for two.. that’s for two nights and three days .Few weeks before or travel date they cut  down the price to 12 K since they were able to book a cheaper airfare ..yey! I chose to  pay  them in cash ,cause seriously I am not too confident with online/ credit card transactions. .. So yeah I went to their office at ortigas personally hihi

CHECK OUT THEIR WEBSITE: http://www.wowphilippinestravelagency.com/

Everything  we need to do was  organized by our travel agent named relly, We left manila at 8am and landed at Caticlan 8:45 am. We didn’t know where to go that time, relly said someone will pick us up from the airport and  I  was a bit worried when no one approached us when we got out of the airport..15 minutes later we saw a  guy carrying a banner with our names (just like in the movies!LOL) they gave us  some sort of  a tag/ label that we gotta stick to our shirts  until we get to the island of bora. After that we took a 15 min boat ride .  A porter   approached as soon as we  reached the port of boracay. This time the guy was shouting our names ! (I think I like the banner thingy better! Haha) He hurriedly took our luggage and placed it on a tricycle, I was I bit worried since they were all strangers to me so I kept on staring at them. On our way to station 3, I asked the porter how much should we oay the driver. The guy said “wla po , hindi po!”  I was like. “What the hell is wrong with you guys”. seriously He was the second person who refused to get paid for his services. When we got into the hotel, I asked the receptionist why those people refused to get paid. The lady said everything was covered with package. SWEET. That was very impressive. We stayed at BAMBOO BEACH RESORT, Station 3.  It was a nice hotel, their rooms are pretty new and they serve buffets at night too.  Our room was clean and the bathroom was ok. Bed sheets are clean and furnitures are made of first class materials. It has a mini fridge, tv, sofa  and scabinets.oh! and a small VERANDA too..

website: http://www.bambooboracay.com.ph/

Hotel Photos here: http://www.bambooboracay.com.ph/gallery.html

By the way , I would suggest that you guys bring your own supplies (water, chips, shampoos etc) because seriously everything is priced like gold there! Like I bought a sachet of shampoo for 15 php! UGH!. If in case you really need to buy something when you get there, it’ll be better if you go to the convenience store near THE MALL.

ANDOKS is definitely the best choice for travelers on a tight budget. A complete meal for two costs around 200 php only. Andoks has 2-3 Branches there, but it still gets a li’l crowded during lunch and dinner time. What we did was, we had our lunch at andoks and then buffet for dinner. Dinner Buffets by the beach are basically a trend there. As early as 5pm you’ll see buffet set ups near the beach. They serve yummy international cuisines and fresh seafood. The price ranges from 200 php – 400 php/head which is quite reasonable for their menu. We ended up walking from station 3 to station 2 just to find the cheapest buffet deal :) Oh yeah by the way, Walking from station to station is like a common thing there so you better wear a comfy and durable flip flop LOL.

.TO BE CONTINUED.

NEXT WEEKEND VACATION

Jun 7, 2010 ilovelife | Uncategorized
our Next stop?

And yes..We are saving for another weekend getaway! :) We haven’t decided on where to go  yet  .so .. I’m pretty much still on the process of googling stuff off the internet.
and the Qualifying criterias for our next destination..
1. ideal for a 2 day weekend vacay  (due to our work sched)
2. We’re pushing for a septemeber trip so I am  considering the weather / climate.
3. expenses must not exceed 7000 php
4.  MODE of Transpo:
if Private car – travel time must not exceed 3-4 hours
if thru air – airfare should just be around 1200/ head (round trip :) )
—–Water transpo not an option!—-
As much as possible we would like to maximize our time ,we are avoiding long hours of travel time.
Currently we’re looking at these destinations
1. Clark/ Subic
2. CaM sur ( CWC) – thru plane
3. Bohol
4. Palawan  or Boracay (provided the airfares are on sale)
5. Ilocos Norte
6.Batangas (our last resort!)
I’ll be creating separate blogs for each destinations. And as usual I’ll be hunting for cheap but great deals!
Travelers! Watch out for my next blogs :) HAPPY READING ^_^

JUNE – Summer is finally OVER! And we ended summer with a  bang! :) our short vacay at tagaytay went well..Though not exactly the way we planned it but still we had a real great time…

Due to late night friday partying, we weren’t able to follow our original itinerary. ^__^. we left manila lunch time..then we got there at exactly     1: 30 pm.We just  had lunch at a fastfood so we can catch the hotel check in at 2pm.

The weather was great! not too hot not too cold.. I remember the last time we went there (January 2009) it was really cold. I was expecting to experience the same  temperature, so I brought like 3 jackets..ugh!

Tagaytay was jam packed! Guess what?  The hotel I reserved online cancelled my reservations..I didn’t argue at all since they were already fully booked anyway.i guess SHIT really happens. So then we  drove around the city for another 30 mins just to find another hotel..and look what we have found..

TRAVELLERS’ INN (built just last feb 2010)

original price : 1,600 php

after haggling with them :  1500 php!

Inclusions:

WIFI (omfg) ,hot and cold shower, queensize bed, AC, cable TV, towels, toothbrush, toothpaste , shampoo. SECURED PARKING! and of course! free breakfast :)

(pringles not included)hehe

Here’s a short story on how we found this super nice place..

We stayed at one of their branches (near mushroom burger) last year. So when Park view cancelled our reservations we decided to just stay with them again. We  knew that they don’t have WIFI  so they were our last choice that time.I was like Hello! We bought 2 laptops for nothing!

When I was signing their log book ..I  asked the attendant if they have WIFI..she said “wala po eh*sigh* ok…” nakikita ba taal from here?” she answered ”opo, gusto niyo po ba dun kayo sa room na kita tlga taal?” wow.are you kidding me of course we do! . She hurriedly took us to our room which was the top most floor .The room was nice ,clean and bigger than what we have expected.. While I was roaming around the room, the attendant came back with our towels and toiletries.. we had a li’l chat about the room and stuff..she was very nice and accommodating she even told me to go up at the deck if we wish to have a 180 degrees view of the lake. But since I was still thinking about the our laptops and the WIFI  I asked her once again..

me: “wala ba talaga kayo WIFI?” she said: naku wala po talaga. pero dun sa bago naming branch meron me: “talaga!? san yun , may vacant pa ba?” her: lapit po sa pink sisters .tetext ko po.” me: < fingers crossed tightly> her: “Naku, puno na din po pala” me: SAD FACE :(

frustrated and pissed I went down to to help my boyfriend unload our stuff from the car. I told my boyfriend about the their other branch.we were like sayang mura sana. Minutes later, the attendant approached us again and told us that one of their clients just checked out.wahaha! WIFI! yes! They handed back our payment and we hurriedly drove down to their newest branch located near  pink sisters. Finally a place to stay!

we checked in at exactly 4:00 pm …watched tv and took some rest. It was already 6pm when we decided to get outside.

It was almost dawn and stars were slowly filling up the sky..The view was ecstatic! and the mood was very romantic! Seriously, I took a lot of photos! A LOT! here are some of them..

6:00 pm, taal lake

the best place to have dinner and breakfast..

we had dinner at Carlos pizza. food was great. we ordered 2 sets of their platter (pizza, pasta and chicken) which cost us around 350++. Quiet cheap compared to pancake house.

and yes! we paid for this view! LOL. we dont have this in manila!

night life in tagaytay

after dinner, we chilled at Starbucks..had coffee, took pictures and read newspaper.. There were several bars around the area so from our spot  we could  see people loading their stomachs with beer and  hear acoustic bands playing. “THIS IS LIFE!” . After several hours of sitting at starbucks we agreed to  take a walk.. and just then we noticed how lovely the night was..

priceless! I dont even remember  the last time Ive seen the moon!

AND sO our FIRST day at tagaytay Ended NICELY! :)

DAY 2. Original Plan Moved and adJusted.

We had breakfast 7:oo am. It was kinda late.We were supposed to get up 6am and catch the 8am  mass at pink sisters but yeah…WE OVERSLEPT!               9:00 a.m. we went to pink sisters , which is just few meters away from our hotel.
At Pink sisters you may put your prayers into writing. Then you would have to  place it on a small box. My boyfriend said the nuns open those papers and pray for it . Can you imagine several nuns praying for your request?

10 am : we walked back to our hotel and packed our things back into the car. Then we headed down to caleruega  ..It wasn’t that easy to get there. We traveled  for almost 30 minutes from tagaytay proper plus another 15 minute drive on the rocky road of its compound. My boyfriend was not so happy about it and kept complaining.. he was like ” What? a Church? I thought this is a FARM! this better it “

the road to caleruega

and so finally we found it…whew!

By the way they are charging 30 php/head for the entrance fee..(what?!) Don’t PANIC! its for a good cause and its worth it anyway :)

this is the main church/chapel.

This is like their office/ receiving area

I noticed the interiors are spanish inspired.

and THIS is the breathtaking view from up there…

ONE WORD: BREATHTAKING!

It feels good to stand at the edge of the hill! I even heard the wind WOOING! The place was so peaceful and quiet.SERIOUSLY ..it was amazing.I am not overrating or anything!

Caleruega caters all sorts of spiritual service such as weddings, retreats etc..check out their website for more info http://www.dominicans.ph/caleruega/index/

We attended their sunday mass (11:00 am) It was very solemn.quiet & very holy. Before we left, we took lotsa photos.Too bad I left my tripod so we just took turns in taking pictures ..On some photos we made use of the  Timer feature  and placed the camera on top of a plant so we can pose together ..:)

12:30 pm.Lunch at Mushroom Burger

You should never miss eating at mushroom burger when you’re in tagaytay! Its like their trademark! :) their burger tastes really good and unique! Just take a look at the number of  people dining here..

So that was the end of our trip. We went back to manila 4pm. Whoo!! all worth it!  We’ll probably go back before 2010 ends. :)

While others are enjoying their tan lines on the beach. We have decided to just take a relaxing vacay at tagaytay before the month of MAY ends.

Tagaytay is an ideal destination for those…

  • who doesn’t like travelling too far
  • on a tight work schedule
  • with a limited budget
  • who hate warm/hot weather

Seriously,I’ve been goggling a lot this past few days, searching for cheap but nice hotels. Just a 2-3 star hotel..who needs a fancy room at tagaytay?!!We will be spending most of the time outdoors anyway. The alloted budget for our accomodation 1,800 – 2000 ( we can go a li’l higher but it’ll be for a very reasonable cause ) .

My criteria? —-it must include the ff:

  • breakfast for two
  • a/c
  • hot/cold shower
  • panoramic view of taal  ( if possible- wishful thinking)

Let me share some of the good deals I found Online

ViewPark Hotel

This is our first choice. Looks classy but cheap! for as low as 1,800 php

Good for 4 persons

This is their Superior room 1,800/ night.

  • Airconditioned room with TV, Hot & Cold Shower
  • Complimentary breakfast.
  • with WIFI

not bad right?

Good for 2-8 persons

Econo room , not too sure bout the rate. I did asked them about this but they ignored my question. I dont know why but its rate is not listed on their website as well. weird.

WEBSITE–>> http://viewparkhotel.com/room.html

POTTER’s RIDGE TAGAYTAY

Whoo! breathtaking ! they’re situated near the ridge , so you can have a full view of taal. Rate starts at 2,475 php. a li’l pricey than parkview though. We might check this out before we book at parkview. I just hope they could give us a discount <I am so crossing my fingers on this>. I saw one blog saying that they’re giving out discounts..

  • Room rates are inclusive of breakfast for two (2)
  • Restaurant with WiFi access

WEBSITE: http://pottersridge.net

and here comes the CHEAPO place  from  www.sulit.com

FITILITICO

It is much like a house. It has a small kitchen and  queensize bed.nothing fancy. If you’re on a really tight budget and  planning to cook your own meals. This definitely is the place to be.
